Italy here we come

If Rick Steves can have a web page with an itinerary so can we! In reality we stole a lot of what we are going to do from his website minus the awkward group tours.

Fly Out
June 23
Delta Airlines - Depart 8:00 AM! That will make an early morning for us. We''ve been thinking about maybe getting a hotel room by the airport so we wouldn't have to get up as early but not sure if we will do that or not. We should make it to Venice a mere 18 hours and 45 min after leaving Seattle, icluding a 4 hour layover in Atlanta. For the frequent flyer geeks that is 7,076 miles (Delta is an Alaska Airlines partner so the miles won't go to waste).

Venice
June 24 - 28
Hotel Centauro - This hotel was recommended to us by a friend of Angie's who has stayed here. Our room will have a canal view but we aren't exactly sure of which canal.

  • Sun - Arrive in Venice 11:45 a.m. We'll figure out how to get to our hotel and depending on our condition do some exploring near the hotel.
  • Mon - Our anniversary. Piazza San Marco, Doges Palace, fancy dinner, gondola ride / classical music concert.
  • Tues - wine tasting day - no reservations yet but we're going to do a fancy wine tasting day where we tour some wineries.
  • Wed - Murano to see the glass factories.
  • Thur - Leave for Florence

We also want to try and get to the Correr Museum. It's near the Piazza San Marco so we'll likely try it on Monday but not sure how we will do on time. We will likely also have time on Wednesday as Murano shouldn't be an all day event.

Florence
June 28 - July 2
Hotel Porta Rossa - This hotel was also recommended to us by a friend of Angie's. The hotel's website claims that it is the oldest hotel in Florence.

  • Thur - Arrive from Venice
  • Fri - Accademia and Uffizi
  • Sat - Day trip to Pisa - Jeff is determined to eat Pizza in Pisa!
  • Sun -
  • Mon - Leave for Rome

Rome
July 2 - July 6
Hotel Villa Morgagni - This hotel we just found on the internet. It is not centrally located but many of the reviews of it said it is very close to mass transit and that the neighborhood in it is less scary as the hotels that are very close to the big sights. We will be spending a decent amount of money on hotels in Venice and Florence and this one is very reasonably priced.
